Obama: ISIS didn’t build that!

Early Sunday, approx 02:00: Two law-enforcement officials told The Daily Beast that immediately before starting his rampage, Omar Mateen called 911 and pledged his allegiance to the self-proclaimed Islamic State.

Later Sunday, 12:23: POTUS speech, “We’ve reached no definitive judgment on the precise motivations of the killer. The FBI is appropriately investigating this as an act of terrorism. And I’ve directed that we must spare no effort to determine what — if any — inspiration or association this killer may have had with terrorist groups. What is clear is that he was a person filled with hatred. “

Random thoughts on Orlando nightclub shooting

– You won’t see the word “Islam” in the boilerplate speech by Obama but you will see the phrases that the gay nightclub “is more than a nightclub. It is a place of solidarity and empowerment” and that “This massacre is … a further reminder of how easy it is for someone to get their hands on a weapon

– Obama’s view is in line with terrorist’s father, who said that the attack “has nothing to do with religion.” WaPo notes the following:

The father of Omar Mateen, identified by police as the man behind the carnage at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning, is an Afghan man who holds strong political views, including support for the Afghan Taliban. In a video he posted on Saturday, he appears to be portraying himself as the president of Afghanistan.

– Maaten was a registered Democrat, pledged allegiance to ISIS and “He was quite religious”.

– According to the liberals gun control is “real story” as Yahoo notes in the headline “Bernie Sanders Just Nailed the Real Culprit Behind the Mass Shooting in Orlando”. Do Bataclan concert hall and Charlie Hedbo office shooting in a country with strict gun control laws mean anything? How about the San Bernardino shooting in California, a state with much stricter gun control laws? Mateen was a security guard at a juvenile facility and thus had passed all the required background checks to be able to carry firearms. This attack also highlights the argument made by gun control proponents, who state that if you carry a gun to defend yourself then it can be taken from you and used on you. There were more than 320 people in that nightclub against the sole gunman and nobody was able to take either of the two guns away from him.

– This attack can also be chalked up as another intelligence failure. We are always told how NSA surveillance is necessary to ward off impending attacks. Boston bombers were on the FBI radar, as was Mateen.

The senior law enforcement source reports that Mateen became a person of interest in 2013 and again in 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation into Mateen but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation.

“He’s a known quantity,” the source said. “He’s been on the radar before.”

– A helpful tip on reading the CBC website, aka recognizing news that doesn’t fit the narrative. One doesn’t even have to read the article to ascertain that. Just note if the report, like the one about this shooting, has the comments disabled. Non-white, check, registered Democrat, check, Muslim, check. Narrative fault!

Sub-human rights trump women’s rights?

What is the world coming to when even the feminist agree with this sentiment?

racists4rapistsRote Antifa posted a picture of young feminist on Thursday, holding a sign that stated she preferred rapists from Syria and North Africa over nationalists in Germany who have demanded Chancellor Angela Merkel stop taking in more refugees.

The picture itself is photoshopped where the word “REFUGEES” has been replaced with “RAPISTS” but it is instructive that Rote Antifa, an anti-fascist  organisation, chose to post this on their website because they are in concordance with the message. When did we start subjugating women again and start giving a small minority of sub-humans a precedence in rights over half of the human population?

Now we also learn that the sexual attacks in European cities on New Year’s Eve weren’t news at all. Consider this.

Authorities in Sweden are investigating claims that police there covered up sexual assaults committed mostly by immigrant youths at a music festival in Stockholm — attacks apparently similar in style to those carried out on New Year’s Eve in the German city of Cologne.

Police documented 38 claims of sexual assault — including two alleged rapes — in connection with the “We Are Sthlm” festival in 2014 and 2015, according to Reuters. They believe the attacks were carried out by about 50 people, most of them young Afghans, Reuters reported, citing Dagens Nyheter, the Swedish paper that broke the news.

Leftist will resort to psychobabble when it comes to this, but in this case it is best to apply the Occam’s Razor and ask the following question about the Western Civilisation –  has there ever been a civiilsation with a wider disparity between intellectual accomplishments and common sense?

Taking the #MustRhodesFall campaign to its logical conclusion

The Daily Telegraph notes the following:

Students at the Oxford Union voted on Tuesday night to remove the controversial statue of Cecil Rhodes with 245 ayes and 212 noes as part of a wider movement of “decolonisation” of the curriculum at the university.

Indeed. Let us take this campaign to its logical conclusion. Everybody who has ever received a scholarship from funds amassed by Rhodes should give the money back. While we are at it, let us revoke the degrees of anybody who received those funds. All Rhodes Scholars should be publicly humiliated for accepting these funds.

France – Just watch me

France has shown amazing fight back against the Muslim threat but then as the old Vulcan proverb stated, “only Nixon could go to China” and former PM Pierre Trudeau said in a similar context “just watch me”.

The national state of emergency declared by French President Francois Hollande within hours of the Nov. 13 bloodbath gave the security services broad powers to go after suspected extremists. Across the nation, police have been breaking down doors, interrogating residents, detaining suspects or placing them under house arrest — all without a warrant or orders from a judge….

He has also said that he wants French law to allow dual nationals, including people born in France, to be stripped of their citizenship and barred from the country if convicted of terrorism-related offenses.

One awaits the Nazi-Hollande linkages just like the ones for Bush. Some people have already noted, that if one wants to assure liberties, then it is best to elect right-wing politicians because they will be held fully accountable by the media.

Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen. See earlier post.

I am not Charles

A noted climate scientist and royal gadfly opines.

The Prince of Wales has said climate change may have been a factor in the emergence of civil war in Syria.

Prince Charles said he was one of those who warned many years ago that there would be rising conflict over scarce resources if the issue was not tackled.

Not likely chap.

Stripping terrorist of citizenship, then and now

A few months ago the former PM Harper proposed the following.

The policy of stripping Canadian citizenship from those convicted of terrorist crimes and associated offences is a standard affront to international laws and tends to sit uncomfortably with domestic laws as well. But it fits in well within this economy of manufactured fear.

Apologists for it have come out everywhere, and Harper can count on substantive legal opinion to back his claim. If you can have citizenship removed in circumstances of fraud, you can certainly have it pinched off you if you are a convicted terrorist.

This also elicited the following response from the BC Civil Liberties Assocation.

It’s official – second class citizenship goes into effect

Last Friday, part of Bill C-24 went into effect, officially creating a two-tier citizenship system.

Today the French suggested the following.

Hollande said he wanted French law to allow dual nationals to be stripped of their French citizenship if they were convicted of terrorism and dual nationals to be banned from entering France if they presented a “terrorism risk”.

Notice the similarity with the proposed Canadian legislation which according to CBC, the “Conservative-drafted law, known during the legislative process as Bill C-24, strips dual nationals of their citizenship if they are convicted of terrorism or high treason, among other serious offences.” It will be interesting to see how the same pundits respond to this move by the French.

In an earlier post on this blog, it was suggested that fight against Muslim terrorist will only commence when the following condition is met.

When the French intellectuals come to realize the threat that Islam poses.

Once that happens all the apologists and idiots will be brushed aside.

This is the first small step in that shift in thinking. Now that the ‘enlightened and sophisticated’ Europeans are adopting the same ‘discredited’ strategy, will the leftist around the world fall in lockstep?

Trudeau’s ‘novel’ idea to fight ISIS

From the CBC, emphasis added.

“We made a clear commitment in the campaign to stop the bombing mission by Canadian jets and replace it with a role for Canada that is still a serious military role, but leaned more towards training of local troops to be able to bring the fight directly to ISIL,” he said, referring to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). “That’s the commitment we made very clearly throughout the campaign and we have a mandate to do that.”

Did he forget this news story from two-months ago?

A $500m effort to train Syrian forces against the Islamic State has resulted in only a handful of fighters actively battling the jihadi army, the top military commander overseeing the war has testified.

“We’re talking four or five,” General Lloyd Austin, commander of US Central Command, told a dissatisfied Senate armed services committee on Wednesday.

The training initiative is Barack Obama’s linchpin for retaking Syrian territory from Isis. The Pentagon anticipated in late 2014 that it would have trained 5,000 anti-Isis Syrian rebels by now.

US, with its global outreach and military infrastructure, was unable to do this and Canada is going to do down the same path? Good luck with that.

Paris attacks and it-is-all-Bush’s-fault meme

Inevitably the leftist press will circle back and state that ‘only if Bush hadn’t attacked Iraq’ this would have never happened. With that in mind it is instructive to recall some facts.

An op-ed in the liberal NYT in 2003.

President Bush sketched an expansive vision last night of what he expects to accomplish by a war in Iraq. Instead of focusing on eliminating weapons of mass destruction, or reducing the threat of terror to the United States, Mr. Bush talked about establishing a ”free and peaceful Iraq” that would serve as a ”dramatic and inspiring example” to the entire Arab and Muslim world, provide a stabilizing influence in the Middle East and even help end the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The idea of turning Iraq into a model democracy in the Arab world is one some members of the administration have been discussing for a long time. But it is not one that Mr. Bush has devoted much effort to selling to the American people. Most Americans would certainly rally around the idea of a strong, stable and open government in Iraq. But they haven’t been prepared for the cost of such an undertaking. For most people, the vision of a new gulf war is one of relatively quick victory, not years of American occupation.

In a speech to the American Enterprise Institute, the president described an undertaking that resembled American efforts in post-World-War-II Japan and Germany. This week Gen. Eric Shinseki, the Army chief of staff, said he believed that hundreds of thousands of soldiers would have to remain on Iraqi soil to create a stable environment for democratic change. Mr. Bush, a man who ran for office scoffing at the idea of ”nation-building,” is now betting his presidency on that idea.

Notice the ‘expansive vision.. instead of focusing on eliminating weapons of mass destruction’ but for the current crop of leftist the only thing that matters is the letters W, M & D..

Joe Biden in 2010, emphasis added.

I am very optimistic about — about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You’re going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You’re going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government

Barrack Obama in 2011, emphasis added.

Iraq’s future will be in the hands of its people.  America’s war in Iraq will be over” he remarked.  And “Iraq is not a perfect place.  It has many challenges ahead.  But we’re leaving behind a sovereign, stable and self-reliant Iraq, with a representative government that was elected by its people.  We’re building a new partnership between our nations.

Obama and his administration took ownership of Iraq and if Iraq is one of those ‘root cause’ then the blame lies with Obama..
