UKIP surges in UK elections, LibDems nearly wiped out

The Telegraph reports:

Ukip surged to win more than a quarter of the vote and an additional 139 council seats — prompting Nigel Farage to boast that his party could sweep into Parliament at the general election in 2015. The Conservatives lost 337 seats and surrendered control of 10 councils including Oxfordshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire.

In an election that some experts suggested marked a major turning point in British politics, Labour failed to seize power decisively from the Conservatives in many areas, while the Liberal Democrats faced a wipeout across much of the country.

Excellent news. Maybe the Brits are finally revolting against the Volvo-drivers from the sensible right.
