Forget Benghazi. Seriously.

The MSM media lockdown on the deaths of four Americans in Benghazi is almost comprehensive. The story will not be a decisive or even important factor in the presidential election. The big networks and newspapers have not covered the sorry trail of deception and contradiction so far, and there is no reason to expect that will change. The Fox News Friday blockbuster – doomed CIA agents begging for help from an uncaring Washington – is losing momentum by the moment, as a providential storm approaches the east coast and allows newsrooms to look the other way even harder. So forget Benghazi. Just as they turned in a picture-perfect debate performance and more or less ignored Benghazi, so I suspect the Romney campaign will continue to do so, responding to events or questions when they absolutely must, but otherwise holding silence. They are letting the event speak for itself. It does. The campaign can only weaken its impact, if it plays into a string of MSM irrelevancies and ambuscades. Any serious investigation of this tragedy will happen after the election. Like Mr. Harper here in Canada, the Romney people realized they will never, ever get a square deal from the traditional media, and they adjusted accordingly. I believe the Romney team learned its lesson from ‘shoot first, aim later’, and will no longer venture into territory it does not own. Mr. Romney’s speech last night was on the economy and that is right on target.

    I agree with you on everything except the main idea of your post.

    I won’t forget Benghazi. The harder the Obama zombies try to forget the more I’ll remind them of their hipocracy. All thier high brow rhetoric is exposed for shallow campaigning in the end. It proves beyond any doubt that the MSM is nothing more than a propaghanda organ of the left. -As if the Tea Party / Occupy coverage didn’t already prove that.

    I think Romney and his team are actually very good at what they do and don’t really need any advice from us. You’re right and they are handling this perfectly.

    I’m not running for office however and don’t need to please anybody. I want to know who is responsible. The Obama years should be well documented as a warning to all.

    The Benghazi incident was so telling in so many ways:
    -the incompetence and cowardice of the Obama regime;
    - the Obama regime’s lying about both the causes of the murders and violence and denying they had been warned of the danger prior to the violence;
    - the attempts by the MSM,largely successful so far,to downplay the incident, and cover up it’s causes and the administration’s duplicity;
    - the fact that a Republican challenger is not permitted to raise Obama’s disgraceful conduct as an issue in the campaign.
    Too bad for Obama and the MSM that Romney will win the election next week despite their shameful conduct in this matter.

    Duggan: I think you are straining for effect here, but in any case,Benghazi will play an important part in the election. Not necessarily decisive, but it well could be. But I am not charging you for this opinion. I feel the Romney surge.

      The election is Tuesday and the mainstream media in the US has still not covered Benghazi in any meaningful wayThey are now so heavily invested in the cover up that all they can do is keep pretending it is not important – anything else would be an abject confession of their bias and incompetence. They have not covered the Fox revelations so far and I do not think they will until after the election.

        Excellent post. There is a double stdnaard. However, at least Obama is dealing with his pastor problem now. McCain may still have to deal with his support of Hagee and Parley in the future.
