‘Titanic’ director Cameron joins effort to plug Gulf spill
Is it possible that a ‘Star Trek’ director would have better luck?
Update: Gulf spill headline.
Effort to contain Gulf oil stalls with stuck saw
It would be best to call the director of ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’.

To be fair, of all the celebrities that could help, he actually has a lot of underwater work experience from his Titanic and Bismarck documentaries/expeditions he did, in his post Titanic success.

This is such a great thread! If you are going to enlist movie producers/directors, I recommend Ridley Scott. He has covered two relevant themes in his early works that would be instructive in this matter. ALIEN, featuring a hostile, predatory grasshopper and Blade Runner, the technology run amok cautionary tale. I say use every imaginative, off the wall idea to cap this gusher of carbon. Cheers.

Where is Alvin (14,764 feet)or other deep water submersibles?
There are suits that allow work to be done at three miles below the surface, where are these?!!
Freakin joke how they are handling this, it’s like they don’t want to stop the flow.

Heard a good conspiracy theory over coffee this morning. The reason they (government, BP etc) haven’t stopped the gusher, is to enrage the electrolate into demanding drilling on land. I kid you not! Love coffee in the morning with the informed. Cheers.

I heard an even better conspiracy theory. Apparently an alien life went to Gulf of Mexico to give birth after leaving its home in the Bermuda Triangle. The newborn of this species require a high hydrocarbon content to survive.
