At least this one gets the comeuppance he richly deserves.

Perchance to dream.

Funny you should mention it…the one question I would have asked Iggy had I felt it socially acceptable to approach and quiz him would have been “Do you regret inviting Fowler to your wonk-fest under the delusion that he would trash the Tories and praise your side?” After reading his frothing denunciations, I wondered if the ex-dip was suffering Stockholm syndrome after 4 months under the tender care of Al-Queda surrogates, but the editorial pages of this morning’s Citizen indicated he was barking before he was kidnapped. He seems to share the demented liberal notion that Canada was on the high road when our “peacekeepers” were standing around watching civilians massacring each other but not intervening because UN “rules of engagement” said they could not fire before being fired upon, which the Serbs and Hutus were careful not to do (this is the sort of “peace mission” that drove poor Romeo Dallaire over the brink of sanity and Fowler must be equally unbalanced to suggest this sort of useless observer status would elevate Canada’s image abroad). And yes, by all means, long may Iggy stand as the avatar of Liberalism – giving Tories time to remake the refugee immigration process, and other difficult-to-undo revamps of atrocious Liberal policy hostile to Canadian interests.

“Robert Fowler is a Canadian hero. He has earned the right to say whatever he pleases.” – Michael Ignatieff, shortly after Mr. Fowler denounced the party he leads as a pack of jackals and whores.

Who invited the aptly named Fowler? Did anyone ask what he might say? After all, there are many better known Canadians who, for a trip to Montreal and an open bar, would have hailed the Liberal party as a chosen elite and Ignatieff as its Moses. Clearly Ignatieff has the political instincts of a frozen dish-cloth.

Beyond that, I am a bit puzzled by Ignatieff elevating Fowler to the status of Canadian hero. We have grown accustomed to people achieving the rank of hero by crossing the country in wheel-chairs or artificial limbs, so perhaps it is only a short stretch to conferring it on one who had the courage and initiative to be kidnapped.

How I wish the Liberal party keeps Ignatieff in his present position.
