If you read these charts, your mind will be changed

Warning:

If you read these global temperature charts, covering the last 400,000 years, your mind will be changed.

No discussion of the world’s climate should be in terms less than a thousand years at a time.

The same chart appears in Ian Plimer’s Heaven and Earth: Global Warming, the Missing Science, showing that we are now in the sixth interglacial in a 400,000 year long ice age. The ice will be back.

The last glacier that carved out the great lakes during its retreat 12,000 years ago was so heavy in the Niagara region that it depressed the earth 150 feet. We’re actually still rebounding to our normal level and have another 50 feet to go.
The glacier before that carved out a different set of lakes which, in turn, created an earlier giant waterfall going over the Niagara Escarpment resulting in a gorge much like the one we have today. This gorge was covered in with glacial debris when the last glacier retreated but is slowly being exposed once more at the dog leg (where the Spanish Aerocar is) of the current Niagara Gorge.
When the next ice age sets in the whole of northeastern North America will disappear under a layer of ice up to five kilometers thick.

    Exactly.
