New Economics – Car Sales Down = Grapefruit Prices Up

3:22 pm Economics and Finance

The strange workings in the global markets give us this story.

Slump In Car Exports Spells Soaring Grapefruit  Prices.

Seems that one of the Japanese auto carrying ships that brings Japanese
made vehicles to the US is used to freight grapefruit from Florida to
Japan on the return trip, carrying about 20% of Japan’s grapefruit
annually. Fewer cars means fewer trips to the US and thus fewer
grapefruit runs in return!
