Email to Veterans Affairs minister

Dear Mr. Thompson:

I want to register my disapproval of the participation of the Canadian Human Rights Commission at Remembrance Day ceremonies.  As I hope a minister would be aware, the commission is currently the subject of several investigations.  I and others consider the Commission to be a real and frightening enemy of the freedoms Canadians have fought to preserve. While I hope its appearance tomorrow has a sincere motivation, I suspect it is simply part of a public relations exercise that attempts to restore a badly – and deservedly – tarnished image.

Best regards,

Whilst the financial markets do an encore of 1930s, politics does the same.

- A man is arrested for wearing McCain/Palin t-shirt amongst Obama supporters who were celebrating on election night.  Perhaps it was done for his own safety!

- Peter Hitchens writes on the same topic and draws analogy to the Diana funeral: At least Mandela-worship its nearest equivalent – is focused on a man who actually did something.  I really don’t see how the Obama devotees can ever in future mock the Moonies, the Scientologists or people who claim to have been abducted in flying saucers. This is a cult like the one which grew up around Princess Diana, bereft of reason and hostile to facts.  He goes on to identify the religious overtones in the campaign.
