Palin debate strategy
October 2, 2008 12:04 pm American PoliticsA friend suggests that Palin should adopt the following strategy for the debate tonight.
If I were Palin I would hit Biden directly on the issue of foreign policy. She should say that she is only 44 years old and hasn’t had the opportunity to serve in the Senate since 1972 when she was in 2nd grade.
For the record Biden voted against putting nuclear missiles in Europe in the mid-80s, voted against funding the Contras, voted for a nuclear freeze, voted against Reagan defense budgets, voted against first Gulf War (the one that took a week and was a defense against an attack on a sovereign country). That is just the stuff I recall.
She should say that she wasn’t in the Senate then but Biden was and he voted the wrong way. And then use Biden’s own words against Obama. Biden will be surprised and get mean and attack her and then game over.
She actually could win this thing because if it is a draw she wins.

Palin doesn’t have the skill set to hit anyone with anything. She needs to deliver speeches that have been written for her in front of Republican crowds.

When the polling numbers are down, and it feels like the wagon is throwing wheels on a steep slope, it’s time to push back against the briefers and the handlers and just enjoy the ride. Something got Sarah Palin to the Governor’s Double-Wide in Alaska and I doubt it was listening wide-eyed to the political professionals. So I hope tonight she forgets the coaching and simply debates her opponent. Exactly contrary to what ‘aa’ above wrote, I think she needs to simply say what she thinks.

She should wear that leather mini skirt and Biden will be tongue tied.

First, though, Ms Palin should congratulate the ‘moderator’ on her soon to be released book on ‘race and politics in the Age of Obama’. A little sucking up to the moderator never hurts, and would no doubt help set the tone for the rest of the debate;)
Seriously though, this is make or break time for Sarah, and the thing she should keep topmost in her mind tonight is “Go big or go home.” I agree with Duggansdew, I think she has what it takes to open up a big ol’ can of whuppass on Joe.
