Their chutzpah knows no boundaries. The only reply must be an unwavering demand for total unconditional surrender: dropping of all HRC complaints, full payment of legal costs and an apology for tortuous behaviour.

First, I must point out that ‘tortuous’ is a cromulous word and apposite in the context.
Second, I would be unhappy if Maclean’s even appeared to be bargaining with legalized vandalism. The state has foolishly forged a weapon which any fool or bully can use to enrich himself with impunity. The sooner this mistake is recognized and corrected, the better.
