Quebec and immigration

10:21 am Canadian Politics

The Canadian province of Quebec, like most of the Western world, now relies on immigration to ensure that there are enough working bodies to provide Jean and Claude with a comfortable inflation-adjusted pension. The paucity of the French empire limits this option with bulk of the immigrants coming from Haiti.

According to Dhimmi Watch, the problem with Quebec’s sources of immigrants is not Haiti, but the Islamic Maghreb, with all the problems that entails. Seems to me Bill 101 helped to get rid of most of Quebec’s Protestants and Jews and the government has replaced them with these economic low-performers.

In any event, Quebec has a real demographic crisis of its native-stock.

Actual figures for country of origin of immigrants to Quebec are foiund in Table 5 of a Quebec government publication: “Presence au Quebec des Immigrants admis de 1996 au 2005, at
    http://www.micc.gouv.qc.ca/publications/fr/recherches-statistiques/Presence-Quebec-2007-immigrants-admis1996-2005.pdf

It lists countries of origin in order as 1. France, 2. China, 3. Algeria 4. Morocco, 5. Rumania, and 6 Haiti. Haitian immigration was very considerable smaller than that from the first five countries.

Refer to the table because it is based on who remained in Quebec rather than who arrived there.

The Internet continues to amaze me with the power of search engines to find what otherwise would have taken weeks and searches of libraries in meatspace.
