Retro 70s in US
February 6, 2008 12:09 pm American PoliticsIs it just me or does one get the feeling that we are once again in the mid 1970s in US? In the financial markets the prices of various commodities, such as grains, gold and oil, are hitting multi-year highs as they were back then. On the political front things are similar as well.

This is bad news indeed. If the Republicans are creamed in the coming election, as may be likely, and Obama is elected President, then regardless of any attraction I may feel for net neutrality, the bigger game (Iraq, Islam vs Western civilization and culture) will be in grave jeopardy. I am watching Mr. Obama carefully. I have not yet concluded anything about him beyond the merits or demerits of his stated policies. On the subject of Iraq he is dead wrong.
